Hey- there class--
I am hoping to get some feedback about the movie shown in class. I realize some of the flaws (usual hetero, white, middle/upper class, capitlaist sappy storyline) but i wanted to focus on some of the CMC related themes--for now.
What was the function of the email for the two main characters? Or how did they use it? How did they "partidipate" in the on-line relationship they were forming?
What happened in the scene where the messages went from asynchronous to a sychronous format? What was the Meg Ryan character's reaction?
How did the rule of "not getting personal" in their early emails to each other relate (or not) to the Tidwell and Walther atricle on the diff between FtF and CMC uncertainty reduction and impression formation?
I ahve other questions for you, but I'll wait to see if you respond to these. If you do, you get a gold star!! (Am I lying? How can you tell deception in CMC?)

Here I go, Steph - I finally found my way into this blog! And nope, i don't see any conflict in here (yet), but that's ok, I'll make do... :o) (passive strategy - I think). Fresh out of class, so my mind's a nice & shiny skating rink right now... Just so I don't come across as a complete idiot (a partial one will do), I'll give you a link to a web site that pokes fun at the Bush administration's efforts to unseat the Babylonian Lion...
